I have a pair of mammut 8.5mm ropes for sale. One green and one blue. They are rated as both halves and twins.
Used once on mount kenya and spent the rest of their lives in my cupboard (about 18 months in a DRY condition) and pretty much in great condition.
Will unlikely use soon and thought better someone use them that they sit around doing nothing.
Looking for 20,000/- for the pair?? ... See MoreSee Less
Don Masinde organized a day hike last Saturday to Mount Ol Esekut. Here is his feedback of the trip:
I am told that decades ago in the old age caves the Masai would make poison arrows using some of the local herbs. They would bring them to boil and apply the paste on the arrow heads just before going out for hunting expeditions.
This poison is known as SEKUT.
Our journey begun at 6 am Jai had forgotten his house keys and had to go back so we decided to have a java coffee while waiting which then had us leaving at 7am.
The drive down is very scenic in about 2 hours we drove past Kisames town and headed for the valley where our guide James was waiting to take us to the base. This is where you need a good four wheel drive the lose rubble and rock is not easy to drive on, in a while we arrived at Seyal camp a lovely get away put together by Rob and Lindsey McEntire at the foot of Mount Olesekut.
I wished i had organised to spend a night there it truly is a magnificent creation at this point you forget the tragedy of our polluted city and embrace the true Kenya where the sound of birds and fresh air surround you breathing fresh life into the tired soul.
Our guide James was so gracious to us taking us through the scenic routes and explaining what some of the herbs growing on the side of the mountain were used for.The back ground provides a view of Mount Olegasaile and Ngong hills. Olesekut was placed right at the center of this rocky beautiful paradise. The rock climbers would be well pleased with a visit here you could not possibly exhaust all the climbing options it provides.
I did not realize I was travelling with super athletes it took us 1 hour 45 minutes to scale the mountain to the summit but this is because Michael is training to do the super hike which is 2600 miles from Mexico to Canada,Jai has done both Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro his wife run 400 kilometers in 2 weeks!
Then there is me... i prayed for them all.....
At the summit is the moment you look forward to despite the overcast the valley stretches out in to an attraction of green landscape with deep ridges on the hill side surrounded by gigantic rocks so carefully superimposed by nature not to mention the zebras peacefully grazing on fresh shrubs and mountain dew, indeed it was worth the drive out of town this is a place unexplored. A secret haven. ... See MoreSee Less
