I am going to be moving out to Kenya in March, but will be based in Kilifi. I therefore wanted to know if there is much climbing in that region and if there is a Kilifi chapter of the MCK?

I'm afraid MCK only meets in Nairobi and the cragging I'm familiar with is around Nairobi. As for climbing along the coast, I've been to Diani Beach, south of Mombasa and there is a great deal of very steep/short limestone along the beach that would provide entertaining bouldering with nice sandy landings. Based on these photos taken at Vipingo beach, between Kilifi and Mombasa, it sure looks like the limestone continues north, have a look: http://kenyaholidaylets.com/northofvipingo.htm. So you may discover a gold mine of limestone bouldering. Good luck exploring. Jim

Hey Michael, I've been wondering the same thing, actually. I'll be in Mombasa for ~3 months starting in April or May and was hoping there might be some rock climbing close to there. If you find any information, please post it to this thread for me and others.....there isn't much out there about climbing anywhere in Kenya except near Nairobi. Thanks man!
